Transmission Range Switch Test

  1. Do the battery removal procedure (see BATTERY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ).
  2. Remove the auxiliary under-hood fuse/relay box from its bracket, and remove the bracket from the battery base.
  3. Remove the intake air duct and the air cleaner housing.
  4. Remove the battery base and the battery base bracket.
  5. Disconnect the transmission range switch connector.

  6. Check for continuity between terminals at the transmission range switch connector. There should be continuity between the terminals in the following table for each switch position.

  7. The transmission range switch test is finished if the test results are OK, go to step 8. If there is no continuity between any terminals, check the transmission range switch installation. If the switch is installed correctly, replace the switch (see TRANSMISSION RANGE SWITCH REPLACE  ).
  8. Check the connectors for corrosion, dirt, or oil, and clean or repair if necessary, then connect the connector securely.
  9. Install the battery base bracket and the battery base.
  10. Install the air cleaner housing and the intake air duct.
  11. Install the auxiliary under-hood fuse/relay box on the battery base, and install the fuse/relay box on its bracket.
  12. Do the battery installation procedure (see INSTALLATION ).
