System Description: Initiators: Wheels
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2011 Honda Pilot, 2010 Honda Pilot, and 2009 Honda Pilot. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The TPMS will not work unless TPMS type wheels are installed on the vehicle. There are three different type wheels used:
- Type 1 (aluminum wheel): The original equipment wheels have a "TPMS" mark (A) on them, and are counterweighted (B) by adding material opposite the valve hole to counterbalance the weight of the tire pressure sensor (C).
- Type 2 (aluminum wheel): The original equipment wheels have a "TPMS" mark (A) on them, and are counterweighted (B) by adding material opposite the valve hole to counterbalance the weight of the tire pressure sensor (C).
- Type 3 (steel wheel): The original equipment wheels have a "SZA" mark (A) on them, and a counterweight (B) balances the weight of the tire pressure sensor (C) by a size difference in the drain hole.
