VSA cannot be turned OFF

NOTE: If the low tire pressure indicator turns ON, the VSA cannot be turned OFF. Check the tire pressure first.
  1. VSA OFF switch check:

    Is the VSA OFF switch OK? 

    YES  : Go to step 2.

    NO  : REPLACE THE VSA OFF SWITCH .

  2. Open wire check (VSA OFF SW line):
    • 1. Disconnect the following connectors.

      VSA OFF switch 5P connector

      Gauge control module 32P connector

    • 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

      Test condition IG LOCK (0)

      VSA OFF switch 5P connector: disconnected

      Gauge control module 32P connector: disconnected

      Test circuit VSA OFF SW

      Test point 1 VSA OFF switch 5P connector No. 4 (GRN)

      Test point 2 Gauge control module 32P connector No. 29 (GRN)

    Is there continuity? 

    YES  : The VSA OFF SW wire is not open. Go to step 3.

    NO  : Repair an open in the wire between the gauge control module and the VSA OFF switch.

  3. Shorted wire check (VSA OFF SW line):
    • 1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

      Test condition IG LOCK (0)

      VSA OFF switch 5P connector: disconnected

      Gauge control module 32P connector: disconnected

      Test circuit VSA OFF SW

      Test point 1 VSA OFF switch 5P connector No. 4 (GRN)

      Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity? 

    YES  : Repair a short to body ground in the wire between the gauge control module and the VSA OFF switch.

    NO  : The VSA OFF SW wire is OK. Go to step 4.

  4. Open wire check (GND line):
    • 1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

      Test condition IG LOCK (0)

      VSA OFF switch 5P connector: disconnected

      Gauge control module 32P connector: disconnected

      Test circuit GND

      Test point 1 VSA OFF switch 5P connector No. 5 (BLK)

      Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity? 

    YES  : The GND wire is OK. Replace the gauge control module  See Rewriting the ODO Data and Transferring the Maintenance Minder™ Data to a New Gauge Control Module or GAUGE CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

    NO  : Repair an open in the wire between the VSA OFF switch and body ground (G501).
