DTC P2610: Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Ignition Off Internal Timer Malfunction
General Description
The powertrain control module (PCM) has a built-in ignition off timer that measures the duration from the vehicle condition is turned to the OFF (LOCK) mode to the next the vehicle condition is turned to the ON mode. The measured duration is used for evaporative emission (EVAP) leak detection and temperature assumption of the catalytic converter. The CPU in the PCM accesses the ignition off timer when reading the measured duration. If the access process fails, a malfunction is detected and a DTC is stored. When an abnormality is found in the read data, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC. Even if the access is normally performed, the PCM stores a DTC when the measured duration accuracy of the ignition off timer is out of normal range.
Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type, OBD Status

| Vehicle* | ON mode |
*: Excludes after the 12 volt battery is reconnected.
Malfunction Threshold
One of these symptom occurs:
- The access process to the ignition off timer fails.
- The malfunction is found in the read data for at least 5 seconds.
- When the difference between the CPU and the ignition off timer measurement time is 2.0 % or more continuously for 5 times.
Possible Cause
NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
- PCM internal circuit failure
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the PCM memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, the MIL comes on and a Confirmed DTC and the freeze data are stored.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the 12 volt battery.
