Navigation System Symptom Troubleshooting - Interface Dial And Navigation Hard Buttons Do Not Work (2014 2015)

NOTE:
  1. Problem verification 1

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 2. Check if the navigation system operate properly by interface dial and the navigation hard buttons.

    Do the interface dial and the navigation hard buttons workΩ

    YES 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

    NO 

    The failure is duplicated, go to step 2.

  2. Operation check

    -1. Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and check if the diagnosis runs.

    Did the system diagnostic mode run?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Go to step 4.

  3. Problem verification 2

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 2. Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and use the Unit Check diagnosis to check the Hard Key.

    - 3. Operate all buttons in the appropriate switch list.

    Button Name
    NAV button
    PHONE button
    INFO button
    AUDIO button
    BACK button
    MENU button
    DAY/NIGHT ( ) button
    SETTINGS button
    ENTER button

    Do all the items in the appropriate switch list work properly?

    YES 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

    NO 

    Replace the navigation switch panel .

  4. Fuse check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Check the following fuse.

    Fuse No. B37 (7.5 A)
    Location Under-dash fuse/relay box

    Are the fuses OK?

    YES 

    Go to step 5.

    NO 

    Replace the fuse, and recheck. If the fuse blows again, check for a short in the No. B37 (7.5 A) fuse circuits.

  5. Open wire check (ACC line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    Test circuit ACC
    Test point 1 Navigation switch panel 12P connector No. 1 (PUR)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    The ACC wire is OK. Go to step 6.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the wire between the No. B37 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box and the navigation switch panel.

  6. Open wire check (GND line)

    -1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    Test circuit GND
    Test point 1 Navigation switch panel 12P connector No. 12 (BRN)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there less than 0.2 V?

    YES 

    The GND wire is OK. Go to step 7.

    NO 

    Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the navigation switch panel and body ground (G506).

  7. Shorted wire check (JOG line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Disconnect the following connectors.

    Audio-navigation unit connector F (18P) - Refer to: Audio-Navigation Unit Removal and Installation (2014 2015), or Audio-Navigation Unit Removal and Installation (With Display Audio) (2017)
    Navigation switch panel 12P connector

    - 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector F (18P): disconnected
      Navigation switch panel 12P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit JOG
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector F (18P) No. 16 (WHT)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    There is a short to body ground in the wire between the audio-navigation unit and the navigation switch panel. Replace the affected shielded harness.

    NO 

    The JOG wire is not shorted to ground. Go to step 8.

  8. Shorted wire check (SH JOG line to JOG line)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector F (18P): disconnected
      Navigation switch panel 12P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit SH JOG, JOG
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector F (18P) No. 9 (BLK)
    Test point 2 Audio-navigation unit connector F (18P) No. 16 (WHT)

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    There is a short in the wires between the audio-navigation unit and the navigation switch panel. Replace the affected shielded harness.

    NO 

    The SH JOG and the JOG wires are not shorted. Go to step 9.

  9. Open wire check (JOG line)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector F (18P): disconnected
      Navigation switch panel 12P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit JOG
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector F (18P) No. 16 (WHT)
    Test point 2 Navigation switch panel 12P connector No. 5 (WHT)

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The JOG wire is OK. Go to step 10.

    NO 

    There is an open in the wire between the audio-navigation unit and the navigation switch panel. Replace the affected shielded harness.

  10. Navigation switch panel check (substitution)

    -1. Substitute a known-good navigation switch panel.

    - 2. Reconnect all the connectors, and recheck.

    Does the symptom go away?

    YES 

    Replace the original navigation switch panel .

    NO 

    Replace the audio-navigation unit - Refer to: Audio-Navigation Unit Removal and Installation (2014 2015), or Audio-Navigation Unit Removal and Installation (With Display Audio) (2017) .
