Keyless Access System Description - Components (2015 2017)
LF (Low Frequency) Antennas
The front interior, the middle interior, and the rear interior LF antennas send the signals to the remote from inside the vehicle. The driver's door outer handle, the front passenger's door outer handle, and the rear bumper LF antennas send the signals to the remote from outside the vehicle.
Electric Steering Lock (Canada model)
The electric steering lock has a built in control unit, and it controls the steering lock solenoid. When a remote code is identified, the control unit releases the steering lock solenoid and the keyless access control unit sends a key switch unlock signal to the MICU.
Door Touch Sensors and Outer Handle Lock Switches
The door touch sensors are built in to the front driver's and passenger's door handles (rear doors if applicable*). To operate the door locks without the built-in key while carrying the remote, grip the door outer handle to unlock the doors and press the outer handle lock switch on the door outer handle to lock the doors.
*: With rear keyless access function
Remote
The remote is equipped with a keyless transmitter, and all doors can be locked and unlocked by a lock/unlock button operation, even from a remote distance from the vehicle. When the remote lock button or the remote unlock button is pressed, the keyless transmitter sends the applicable switch signal to the keyless access control unit. After receiving the authentication at the keyless access control unit, the door lock signals are sent to MICU through B-CAN.
Power Switch
By pressing the power switch, the vehicle can change from the OFF, ACCESSORY, ON, or READY TO DRIVE mode. The power switch includes a LF antenna which receives the immobilizer signal and sends the information to the keyless access control unit.
Keyless Buzzer
The keyless buzzer is located behind the rear bumper and sounds during smart entry functions.
