Warm Up TWC Removal/Installation: Front

  1. Disconnect the motor connectors, the ECT sensor 2 connector, and the harness connector, then remove the harness clamps (see RADIATOR AND FAN REPLACEMENT ).
  2. Remove the radiator fan and the A/C condenser fan assemblies (see RADIATOR AND FAN REPLACEMENT ).
    NOTE: Place an appropriate sized piece of cardboard over the A/C condenser fan area of the radiator to protect the radiator.
  3. Remove the No. 2 ignition coil and the ignition coil heat insulator.
  4. Remove the front A/F sensor (Sensor 1) (see A/F SENSOR REPLACEMENT ) and the front secondary HO2S (Sensor 2) (see SECONDARY HO2S REPLACEMENT ).
  5. '09-11 models: Remove the front secondary HO2S (Sensor 2) (see SECONDARY HO2S REPLACEMENT ).
  6. Remove the exhaust pipe A mounting nuts (front WU-TWC side) (see EXHAUST PIPE AND MUFFLER REPLACEMENT ).
  7. Remove the EGR pipe (see EGR VALVE REPLACEMENT ).
  8. Remove the bracket (A), then carefully remove the front WU-TWC (B).

  9. Remove the covers (C) from the front WU-TWC.
  10. Carefully install the front WU-TWC with a new gasket (D) and new self-locking nuts (E). Tighten the nuts in a crisscross pattern in two or three steps.
  11. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
