Oil Pan Removal

  1. If the engine is already out of the vehicle, go to step  6.
  2. Remove the splash shield (see SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT ).
  3. Drain the engine oil (see ENGINE OIL REPLACEMENT ).
  4. Remove the drive belt (see DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT ).
  5. Remove the A/C compressor without disconnecting the A/C hoses (see step 41 on ENGINE REMOVAL ).
  6. Remove the dipstick, then remove the dipstick tube.

  7. Remove the CKP sensor cover (A), then disconnect the CKP sensor connector (B).

  8. CVT model: Remove the driveshaft heat shield.

  9. Remove the torque rod (see TORQUE ROD REPLACEMENT ).
  10. Remove the torque rod bracket (see TORQUE ROD BRACKET REPLACEMENT ).
  11. Remove the transmission mounting bolts.

  12. Remove the oil pan bolts.

  13. Using a flat blade screwdriver, separate the oil pan from the engine block in the places shown.
  14. Remove the oil pan.
    NOTE: Lower the oil pan carefully so as not to damage the IMA motor (resolver stator).
