Without Power Tailgate

  1. Remove the tailgate lower trim panel (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - TAILGATE AREA ).
  2. Disconnect the 4P connector (A) from the tailgate release actuator (B).

  3. Check actuator operation by connecting power and ground according to the table. To prevent damage to the actuator, apply battery voltage only momentarily.

  4. If the actuator does not operate as specified, the tailgate release actuator is faulty; replace the tailgate latch (see TAILGATE LATCH REPLACEMENT ).
