DTC U0122: Gauge Control Module Lost Communication With VSA Modulator-Control Unit (VSA message)
If the HDS does not communicate with the VSA modulator-control unit, the VSA indicator stays on, troubleshooting for ABS indicator, brake system indicator, and VSA indicator do not go off, and no DTC's are stored (see SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING INDEX ).
- Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).
- Wait for at least 6 seconds.
- Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC U0122 indicated?
YES -Go to step 5.
NO -Intermittent failure, the F-CAN communication line is OK at this time. Check for DTCs in the PCM and the VSA modulator-control unit with the HDS. If F-CAN DTCs are present, check for a loose VSA ground or poor connections at the VSA modulator-control unit or gauge control module. If the connections are good, check the battery condition and the charging system, then clear all DTCs.
- Check for DTCs in the PCM or VSA with the HDS.
Are any DTCs indicated?
YES -Go to the PCM or VSA indicated DTCs, troubleshooting.
NO -Go to step 6.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Disconnect the gauge control module 32P connector.
- Disconnect the VSA modulator-control unit 22P connector.
- Check the continuity between gauge control module 32P connector terminals No. 19 and No. 20 and VSA modulator-control unit 22P connector terminals No. 10 and No. 15 respectively.Fig 1: Checking Continuity Between Gauge Control Module 32P Connector Terminal No. 22 And Body Ground

Is there continuity?
YES -Check for poor connections, power, and ground to the VSA modulator-control unit. If the VSA modulator-control unit, if the DTC is still present, replace the gauge control module (see Gauge Control Module Replacement ).
NO -Repair an open or poor connection in the F-CAN wire(s) between the VSA modulator-control unit and the gauge control module.
