PCM Replacement

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2015 Honda Crosstour, 2014 Honda Crosstour, 2013 Honda Crosstour, 2012 Honda Crosstour, and 2011 Honda Accord Crosstour. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Special Tools Required

Any one of the above updating tools can be used.

  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  3. Make sure the HAS communicates with the PCM and other vehicle systems. If it doesn't, go to the DLC circuit troubleshooting (see DLC CIRCUIT TROUBLESHOOTING (+). If the result of the DLC circuit troubleshooting is to replace the PCM, Skip steps 4 through 7, 17 through 22, and 25 through 26, and do the following procedures after replacing the PCM:
  4. Select the PGM-FI system with the HAS.
  5. Select the REPLACE PCM MENU, then select READ DATA, and follow the HAS prompts.
    NOTE:
    • Doing this step copies (READS) the engine oil life data from the original PCM so you can later download (WRITES) it into the new PCM.
    • If READ DATA indicates FAILED, continue with this procedure,
  6. Select the A/T system with the HAS.
  7. Select the REPLACE TCM/PCM MENU, then select READ DATA, and follow the HAS prompts.
    NOTE:
    • Doing this step copies (READS) the ATF life data from the original PCM so you can later download (WRITES) it into the new PCM.
    • If READ DATA indicates FAILED, continue with this procedure.
  8. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  9. Do the battery removal procedure (see BATTERY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION (+).
  10. Remove the bolts (D).

  11. Disconnect PCM connectors A, B, and C, then remove the PCM assembly (E).
NOTE: PCM connectors A, B, and C have symbols (A=□, B= , C=◦) embossed on them for identification.
  12. Remove the cover (A) and the bracket (B) from the PCM (C).

  13. Install the PCM in the reverse order of removal.
  14. Do the battery installation procedure (see BATTERY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION (+).
  15. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  16. Manually input the VIN to the PCM with the HAS.
NOTE: DTC P0630 VIN Not Programmed or Mismatch may be stored because the VIN has not been programmed into the PCM; ignore it, and continue this procedure.
  17. If the READ DATA (engine oil life) failed in step  5, go to step  20. Otherwise, go to next step.
  18. Select the PGM-FI system with the HAS.
  19. Select the REPLACE PCM MENU, then select WRITE DATA, and follow the HAS prompts.
NOTE: If the WRITE DATA indicates FAILED, continue with this procedure.
  20. If the READ DATA (ATF life) failed in step  7, go to step  23. Otherwise go to next step.
  21. Select the A/T SYSTEM with the HAS.
  22. Select the REPLACE TCM/PCM MENU, then select WRITE DATA, and follow the HAS prompts.
NOTE: If the WRITE DATA indicates FAILED, continue with this procedure.
  23. Select IMMOBI system with the HAS.
  24. Enter the immobilizer PCM code that you got from iN, and use the PCM replacement procedure in the IMMOBI MENU of the HAS; it allows you to start the engine.
  25. If the READ DATA failed in step  5 or the WRITE DATA failed in step  19, replace the engine oil (see ENGINE OIL LEVEL CHECK ) and the engine oil filter (see ENGINE OIL FILTER REPLACEMENT (+) then go to next step.
  26. If the READ DATA failed in step 7 or the WRITE DATA failed in step 22, replace the ATF (see ATF REPLACEMENT (+) then go to next step.
  27. Select PGM-FI system, and reset the PCM with the HAS.
  28. Clean the throttle body (see THROTTLE BODY CLEANING (+).
  29. Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software (see PCM UPDATE  (+).
  30. Do the PCM idle learn procedure (see PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE (+).
  31. Do the CKP pattern clear/CKP pattern learn procedure (see CKP PATTERN CLEAR/CKP PATTERN LEARN (+).
