Control Unit Input Test/Replacement

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2017 Honda Odyssey, 2016 Honda Odyssey, 2015 Honda Odyssey, 2014 Honda Odyssey, and 2013 Honda Odyssey. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  2. Remove the left rear side trim panel (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - REAR SIDE AREA ).
  3. Disconnect power tailgate control unit connectors A (5P), B (20P), and C (14P) in the order shown.

  4. Inspect all the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact.
    • If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system.
    • If the terminals look OK, go to step 5.
  5. Reconnect all connectors to the power tailgate control unit, and do the following input tests:
    • If the test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
    • If the input test proves OK, the control unit must be faulty; replace it.
NOTE: After replacing the power tailgate control unit, reset the power tailgate control unit (see Resetting the Power Tailgate Control Unit ).
