Without Power Tailgate

NOTE: Put on gloves to protect your hands.
  1. If the tailgate latch does not open by using the keyless entry transmitter, remove the maintenance lid (A) from the tailgate lower trim panel, then turn the emergency lever (B) clockwise as shown in the figure.

  2. Remove the tailgate lower trim panel (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - TAILGATE AREA ).
  3. Disconnect the tailgate release actuator/latch switch connector (A).

  4. Remove the bolts, and pull out the tailgate latch (B), then remove it.
  5. Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and make sure the tailgate opens properly and locks securely.
