Fuel Tank Replacement

  1. Remove the fuel tank unit (see FUEL TANK UNIT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ), then drain the fuel tank (see FUEL TANK DRAINING ).
  2. Raise the vehicle on a lift.
  3. Remove the EVAP canister (see EVAP CANISTER REPLACEMENT ).
  4. Remove the cover (A) and the fuel tank guard (B).

  5. 4WD model: Remove the propeller shaft (see PROPELLER SHAFT RUNOUT ).
  6. Remove the exhaust pipe (see EXHAUST PIPE AND MUFFLER REPLACEMENT ).
  7. Disconnect the hoses (C). Slide back the clamps, then twist the hoses as you pull to avoid damaging them.
  8. Place a jack or other support under the tank (D).
  9. Remove the strap bolts and the straps (E).
  10. Remove the fuel tank.
  11. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
