Service Information

Vehicles talk to the HDS using either the K-Line or F-CAN. When troubleshooting a communication problem in which the vehicle won't talk to the HDS, you've got to know which means the vehicle uses. As a general rule, older models use the K-Line while newer ones use F-CAN, but where the line is drawn isn't always clear.

You can deduce which one is used from the S/M troubleshooting, but if you're diving in without the manual, then you need to know that from memory or have a quick way to find out. So here's a handy chart that lets you know at a glance, starting with '05 models. All earlier models use just the K-Line.
