Oil Pump Overhaul: Installation
- Remove the old oil seal from the oil pump.
- Gently tap in the new oil seal until the oil seal driver bottoms on the pump.
- Remove all of the old liquid gasket from the oil pump mating surfaces, bolts, and bolt holes.
- Clean and dry the oil pump mating surfaces.
- Apply liquid gasket, P/N 08717-0004, 08718-0001, 08718-0003, or 08718-0009, evenly to the engine block mating surface of the oil pump.NOTE: Do not install the parts if 4 minutes or more have elapsed since applying the liquid gasket. Instead, reapply liquid gasket after removing the old residue.
- Grease the lip of the oil seal, and apply oil to the new O-ring (A).
- Install the dowel pins (B), then align the inner rotor with the crankshaft, and install the oil pump (C).
- Clean the excess grease off the crankshaft, and check the seal for distortion.
- Install the oil screen (D) with new O-ring (E).
- Install the VTEC solenoid valve/oil filter assembly, with a new VTEC solenoid valve filter (see step 38 on CRANKSHAFT AND PISTON INSTALLATION ).
- Install the oil pan (see OIL PAN INSTALLATION ).
- Install the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor (see CKP SENSOR REPLACEMENT ).
- Install the timing belt (see TIMING BELT INSTALLATION ).
- Remove the engine hanger.
- Install the service caps on the cowl cover.
- Install the power steering (P/S) pump and P/S line bracket (see step 23 on CYLINDER HEAD INSTALLATION ).
- Install the drive belt (see DRIVE BELT INSPECTION ).
- Install the bulk head cover (see FRONT BULKHEAD COVER REPLACEMENT ).
