Evaporator Temperature Sensor: Inspection

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Toyota Tacoma. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. INSPECT COOLER THERMISTOR SENSOR
    1. Check the resistance.

      1. Measure the resistance and check the results in accordance with the values in TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION TABLE .

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        1 - 2 -10°C (14°F) 7.40 to 9.20 k
        1 - 2 -5°C (23°F) 5.65 to 7.00 k

If the result is not as specified, replace the cooler thermistor sensor.

        NOTE:
        • Even slightly touching the sensor may change the resistance value. Be sure to hold the connector of the sensor.
        • When measuring, the sensor temperature must be almost the same as the ambient temperature.

        HINT:

As the temperature increases, the resistance decreases (see the graph on the left).
