SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING INDEX

Symptom Diagnostic procedure Also check for
Cruise control cannot be set
  1. Check for PGM-FI and body DTCs.
  2. Check the No. 47 (20 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box, and the No. 6 (15 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.
  3. Do the cruise control input test (see CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST  ).
  4. Do the cruise control master switch test (see CRUISE CONTROL MASTER SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT  ).
  5. Do the cruise control SET/decel, RESUME/accel, CANCEL switch test (see CRUISE CONTROL SET/DECEL, RESUME/ACCEL, CANCEL SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT  ).
 
Cruise control can be set, but the CRUISE MAIN indicator does not come on
  1. Check for PGM-FI and body DTCs.
  2. Check the No. 47 (20 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box, and the No. 6 (15 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.
  3. Do the cruise control input test (see CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST  ).
  4. Do the cruise control master switch test (see CRUISE CONTROL MASTER SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT  ).
  • Faulty indicator bulb
  • Poor ground G401
Cruise control can be set, but the CRUISE CONTROL indicator does not come on
  1. Check for PGM-FI and body DTCs.
  2. Check the No. 47 (20 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box, and the No. 6 (15 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.
  3. Do the cruise control input test (see CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST  ).
  4. Do the gauge assembly self-diagnostic function procedure (see SELF-DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION ).
Faulty gauge assembly
Vehicle does not decelerate or accelerate accordingly when the SET/decel or RESUME/accel button is pressed
  1. Check for PGM-FI and body DTCs.
  2. Check the No. 47 (20 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box, and the No. 6 (15 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.
  3. Do the cruise control input test (see CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST  ).
  4. Do the cruise control SET/decel, RESUME/accel, CANCEL switch test (see CRUISE CONTROL SET/DECEL, RESUME/ACCEL, CANCEL SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT  ).
Open circuit, loose or disconnected terminals: LT GRN/BLK or LT GRN/RED wire
Set speed does not cancel when the brake pedal is pressed
  1. Check for PGM-FI and body DTCs.
  2. Check the brake pedal position switch adjustment (see BRAKE PEDAL AND BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SWITCH ADJUSTMENT ).
  3. Check the No. 47 (20 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box, and the No. 6 (15 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.
  4. Do the cruise control input test (see CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST  ).
Short to power in GRY wire
Set speed does not cancel when the cruise control master switch is turned OFF
  1. Check for PGM-FI and body DTCs.
  2. Check the No. 47 (20 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box, and the No. 6 (15 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.
  3. Do the cruise control input test (see CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST  ).
  4. Do the cruise control master switch test (see CRUISE CONTROL MASTER SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT  ).
Short to ground in LT GRN wire
Set speed does not cancel when the CANCEL button is pressed
  1. Check for PGM-FI and body DTCs.
  2. Check the No. 47 (20 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box, and the No. 6 (15 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.
  3. Do the cruise control input test (see CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST  ).
  4. Do the cruise control SET/decel, RESUME/accel, CANCEL switch test (see CRUISE CONTROL SET/DECEL, RESUME/ACCEL, CANCEL SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT  ).
Open circuit, loose or disconnected terminals: LT GRN/BLK or LT GRN/RED wire
Set speed will not resume when the RESUME/accel button is pressed (with the cruise control master switch ON, and set speed temporarily canceled by pressing the brake pedal)
  1. Check for PGM-FI and body DTCs.
  2. Check the brake pedal position switch adjustment (see BRAKE PEDAL AND BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SWITCH ADJUSTMENT ).
  3. Check the No. 47 (20 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box, and the No. 6 (15 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.
  4. Do the cruise control input test (see CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST  ).
  5. Do the cruise control SET/decel, RESUME/accel, CANCEL switch test (see CRUISE CONTROL SET/DECEL, RESUME/ACCEL, CANCEL SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT  ).
  • Open circuit, loose or disconnected terminals: LT GRN/BLK or LT GRN/RED wire
  • Faulty brake pedal position switch
With the ignition switch ON (II), and the lighting switch ON, the cruise control master switch illumination does not come on Replace the cruise control master switch illumination bulb (see CRUISE CONTROL MASTER SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT  ).
