'03 model

  1. Remove the tailgate trim panel (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - TAILGATE AREA ).
  2. Disconnect the 3P connector from the tailgate latch switch.

  3. Check for continuity between the 2 and 3 terminals in each switch position.
    • There should be continuity with the tailgate in the open position.
    • There should be no continuity with the tailgate in the closed position.
  4. If the continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.
