M/T Model

  1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

    Are the back-up lights on when the shift lever is not in the reverse position? 

    1. YES  - Inspect the back-up light switch (see BACK-UP LIGHT SWITCH TEST ).
    2. NO  - Go to step 2.

  2. Shift the transmission to reverse.

    Do the back-up lights come on? 

    1. YES  - Go to step 3.
    2. NO  - Go to step 4.

    Measure voltage between ECM connector terminal B10 and body ground.

    Is there battery voltage? 

    1. YES  - The back-up light switch signal is OK.
    2. NO  - Repair open in the wire between the ECM (B10) and the back-up light switch.

  3. Inspect the No. 10 METER (7.5A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box.

    Is the fuse OK? 

    1. YES 
      • Repair open in the wire between the No. 10 METER (7.5A) fuse and the back-up light switch.
      • Inspect the back-up light switch.
    2. NO 
      • Repair short in the wire between the No. 10 METER (7.5A) fuse and the back-up light switch.
      • Repair short in the wire between the ECM (B10) and the back-up light switch.
      • Replace the No. 10 METER (7.5A) fuse.
