Charge Warning Light Check: Cr-V

  1. Perform PRELIMINARY INSPECTION  . Turn ignition on. If CHARGE warning light illuminates, go to next step. If CHARGE warning light does not illuminate, check for blown CHARGE warning light bulb or blown CHARGE warning light circuit fuse. f problem exists, replace bulb or fuse as necessary. If problem does not exist, check for open circuit in White/Blue wire between generator harness connector and CHARGE warning light, or open circuit in Black/White wire between CHARGE warning light and underdash fuse/relay block. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary.
  2. Start engine. If CHARGE warning light turns off, CHARGE warning light circuit is okay. Perform generator/regulator test. See GENERATOR/REGULATOR TEST  . If CHARGE warning light does not turn off, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition on. Check voltage between ground and Black/Yellow wire at generator 4-pin (3-pin on Canada models) harness connector terminal No. 1 (terminal No. 2 on Canada models). If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open Black/Yellow wire between generator harness connector and underdash fuse/relay block.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect generator 4-pin harness connector (3-pin on Canada models). Turn ignition on. If CHARGE warning light comes on, repair short to ground in White/Blue wire between generator harness connector and CHARGE warning light. If CHARGE warning light does not come on, repair or replace alternator. See BENCH TESTING  .
