Accord, CR-V, Insight & S2000

  1. Check brake lights. If brake lights are on without depressing brake pedal, check brake pedal position switch and adjust, repair or replace as necessary. If brake lights are not on, depress brake pedal. If brake lights come on, go to next step. If brake lights do not come on, go to step  3.
  2. Backprobing, measure voltage between PCM connector "A" (32-pin connector) terminal No. 32 (White/Black wire on Accord & S2000; Green/White wire on CR-V & Insight) and PCM connector "B" (25-pin connector) terminal No. 20 (Brown/Black wire; Brown/Yellow wire on S2000). See Figure and Figure . If battery voltage is present, problem is intermittent. Brake pedal position switch signal is okay at this time. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in appropriate wire (White/Black or Green/White) between brake pedal position switch and PCM connectors. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
  3. Check brake switch fuse. See BRAKE SWITCH FUSE IDENTIFICATION  table. Fuse is located in underhood fuse/relay box (main underhood fuse/relay box on S2000). If fuse is okay, repair open in appropriate wire (White/Yellow or White/Green) between underhood fuse/relay box (main underhood fuse/relay box on S2000) and brake pedal position switch connectors. If wire is okay, check brake pedal position switch and adjustment. See ADJUSTMENTS in appropriate DISC & DRUM article in BRAKES. Adjust or replace brake switch as necessary. If fuse is not okay, repair short in appropriate wire (White/Yellow or White/Green wire) between underhood fuse/relay box (main underhood fuse/relay box on S2000) and brake pedal position switch connectors. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Repair as necessary.
