Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL)
NOTE:
If SCS Service Connector is connected when ignition switch is turned on and no Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) are stored in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) will stay on.
Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) can also be accessed by using MIL. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect SCS Service Connector to 2-pin service check connector located behind access cover on right side of center console, to right of 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC). See Fig 1 . Turn ignition switch to ON position. DTCs will be indicated by a series of long and short flashes on MIL. Number of long flashes indicate number in tens column. Number of short flashes indicate number in ones column. For example, 4 long flashes followed by 3 short flashes would indicate DTC 43. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION and proceed to appropriate DTC test.
