Test B: Abs Indicator Does Not Go Off
- Check the fuse No. 8 (20-amp) in the under-hood fuse/relay box. If the fuse is OK, reinstall the fuse, and go to next step. If the fuse is not OK, replace the fuse, and recheck. If the fuse is blown, check for a short to body ground in this fuse circuit. If the circuit is OK, replace the ABS modulator control unit.
- Check fuse No. 11 (7.5-amp) in the under-dash fuse/relay box. If the fuse is OK, reinstall the fuse, and go to next step. If the fuse is not OK replace the fuse, and recheck. If the fuse is blown, check for a short to body ground in this fuse circuit.
- Disconnect the ABS control unit 31P connector.
- Measure the voltage between terminal No.18 and body ground. If there is battery voltage go to the next step. If there is no battery voltage repair open in the wire between fuse No. 8 and the ABS control unit. See Fig 1
.
- Turn the ignition switch on (II).
- Measure the voltage between the ABS control unit 31P connector terminal No. 15 and body ground. If there is battery voltage go to the next step. If there is no battery voltage repair open in the wire between fuse No. 11 and ABS control unit. See Fig 2
.
- Turn the ignition switch off.
- Check for continuity between the ABS control unit 31P connector terminal No. 19 and body ground. If there is continuity, go to next step. If there is no continuity repair open in the wire between the ABS control unit and body ground (G302). See Fig 3
.
- Turn the ignition switch on (II).
- Connect the ABS control unit 31P connector terminal No. 20 and body ground with a jumper wire. See Fig 4
. If the ABS indicator goes off check for loose terminals in the ABS control unit 31P connector. If necessary, substitute a known-good ABS modulator-control unit, and recheck. If the ABS indicator does not go off, go to next step.
- Remove the gauge assembly, and leave the connectors connected. Connect the gauge assembly connector B (22P) terminal No. 15 and body ground with a jumper wire. See Fig 5
. If the ABS indicator goes off repair open in the wire between the gauge assembly and the ABS control unit. If the ABS indicator does not go off check for a loose gauge assembly connector B (22P). If the connector is OK, replace the printed circuit board in the gauge assembly.
