System Operation Check

To check system operation, ensure shift lever is in "P" position. Turn ignition on. Depress brake pedal with accelerator pedal in idle position. If shift lock solenoid clicks, system is working properly. If shift lock solenoid fails to click, see INTERLOCK CONTROL UNIT  under COMPONENT TESTS. If shift lever cannot be moved from "P" position, check A/T gear position switch. See A/T GEAR POSITION SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS in MDLA & MDMA DIAGNOSIS article.
