Shift Lock Solenoid

  1. Access shift lock solenoid. See SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect shift lock solenoid harness connector. Note connector terminals and wire colors. See Fig 1. Also see WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  2. CAUTION: Battery voltage must be applied to correct shift lock solenoid terminal or diode inside shift lock solenoid will be damaged.
  3. Connect battery voltage to shift lock solenoid terminal No. 1 and momentarily connect solenoid terminal No. 2 to ground. Ensure shift lever can be moved from "P" position when battery voltage is applied to shift lock solenoid and locks in "P" position when voltage is removed. Replace shift lock solenoid if solenoid does not operate properly.
