Abs DTCS 11, 13, 15 & 17: Wheel Sensor Circuit Open Or Shorted
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Disconnect ABS/TCS control unit 26-pin connector "A". Start engine. Measure voltage between ground and appropriate wheel sensor positive circuit terminal at ABS/TCS control unit connector "A". See WHEEL SENSOR POSITIVE CIRCUIT TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION table. See Figure .
- If voltage is less than 2 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 2 volts or more, check for short to power in wire between appropriate wheel sensor and ABS/TCS control unit.
- Check for continuity between ground and appropriate wheel sensor positive circuit terminal at ABS/TCS control unit connector "A". See WHEEL SENSOR POSITIVE CIRCUIT TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION
. See Figure
. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, go to step 5
.WHEEL SENSOR POSITIVE CIRCUIT TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION
DTC (Wheel Sensor Location) ABS Control Unit Connector "A" Terminal No. (Wire Color) 11 (Right Front) 11 (GRN/BLK) 13 (Left Front) 9 (GRN/BLU) 15 (Right Rear) 23 (GRN/YEL) 17 (Left Rear) 21 (LT BLU) - Disconnect appropriate wheel sensor 2-pin connector. Check for continuity between ground and each wheel sensor connector terminal. If continuity exists, repair short to ground in appropriate wire. If continuity does not exist, replace wheel sensor.
- Measure resistance between appropriate wheel sensor positive circuit terminal and negative circuit terminal at ABS/TCS control unit connector "A" as follows:
- For DTC 11 (right front wheel), measure between terminals No. 11 (Green/Black wire) and No. 10 (Green wire).
- For DTC 13 (left front wheel), measure between terminals No. 9 (Green/Blue wire) and No. 8 (Brown wire).
- For DTC 15 (right rear wheel), measure between terminals No. 23 (Green/Yellow wire) and No. 24 (Blue/Yellow wire).
- For DTC 17 (left rear wheel), measure between terminals No. 21 (Light Blue wire) and No. 22 (Gray wire).
- Resistance should be 450-2000 ohms for any wheel sensor circuit. If resistance is not as specified, go to next step. If resistance is as specified, check ABS/TCS control unit connectors for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. If problem exists, repair connector(s). If problem does not exist, replace ABS/TCS control unit with known-good ABS/TCS control unit and retest system.
- Disconnect appropriate wheel sensor 2-pin connector. Check resistance between wheel sensor terminals. Resistance should be 450-2000 ohms. If resistance is not as specified, replace wheel sensor. If resistance is as specified, repair open in appropriate wire between wheel sensor and ABS/TCS control unit.
