SERVICE INFORMATION
The maintenance schedules in the owner's manual and the service manual for 1991-97 vehicles with a supplemental restraint system require that the SRS be inspected 10 years after the date of manufacture. The manufacture date can be found on the certification label attached to the driver's doorjamb.
The inspection procedure is simple, the owners can do it themselves. When a customer inquires about an SRS inspection, make a photocopy of the CUSTOMER INFORMATION section and give it to the customer. Instruct the customer to place the information in the glove box for future owners. If the customer requests that you inspect the SRS, use this procedure.
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
Perform this inspection procedure on any vehicle with an SRS that was manufactured 10 years ago.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON (II) position.
- Check that the SRS light on the instrument panel comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off. If the SRS light stays on or does not come on, troubleshoot the system following the procedures in the appropriate service manual.
- Visually inspect the SRS airbag(s) external vinyl cover(s) for damage or deterioration. If any airbag cover is damaged or deteriorated, the customer should have that airbag replaced.

CUSTOMER INFORMATION
Supplemental Restraint System Inspection
Dear Honda Owner:
The maintenance schedule in the Owner's Manual requires that vehicles with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) have the SRS inspected 10 years after the date of manufacture. The manufacture date of your vehicle can be found on the certification label attached to the driver's doorjamb. The inspection procedure is very simple; you can do it yourself. If the system should have a problem, you should, for your own safety, have the system repaired by an authorized Honda dealer. Cost for repairs to the SRS system on vehicles out of warranty are the responsibility of the owner.
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON (II) position.
- Check that the SRS light on the instrument panel comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off. If the SRS light stays on or does not come on, you need to contact an authorized Honda dealer for repairs.
- Visually inspect the external vinyl cover(s) over the SRS airbag(s) for damage or deterioration. If any airbag cover is damaged or deteriorated, you should have the airbag replaced by an authorized Honda dealer.
- Place this information in the glove box so it will remain with the vehicle when it is sold.
