Self-Diagnostic System

Self-diagnostic system performs 2 types of diagnostics: initial diagnosis and regular diagnosis. Initial diagnosis is performed just after engine starts until ABS indicator light goes off. Regular diagnosis is performed just after initial diagnosis ends until ignition is turned off.

When a problem is detected during self-diagnosis, ABS indicator light is turned on, a DTC is stored in memory and ABS system control is stopped.

A DTC is stored when a problem is detected and ABS indicator light comes on. ABS control unit can store any number of DTCs. When the same DTC is detected more than once, the DTC is recorded only once. DTCs are displayed in ascending order, not as they occur. Because DTCs are stored in EEPROM (nonvolatile) memory, they cannot be erased when battery is disconnected.
