Engine Will Not Start: Prelude
- Check for intake system air leaks.
- Check for a seized engine.
- Check for a slipped/broken timing belt.
- Check starting system. See appropriate STARTERS article in STARTING & CHARGING SYSTEMS.
- Check for an overheated engine.
- Check battery. See appropriate STARTERS article in STARTING & CHARGING SYSTEMS.
- Check ignition wires, ignition coil and Ignition Control Module (ICM). See BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES article.
- Check fuel pressure. See BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES article.
- Check PGM-FI main relay. See SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article.
- Check Crankshaft Position (CKP), Top Dead Center (TDC), Cylinder Position (CYP) and/or Crankshaft Speed Fluctuation (CKF) sensors. See appropriate Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - PRELUDE article.
- Check for contaminated fuel.
- Check A/T gear position signal (A/T) or clutch switch signal (M/T). See SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article.
- Check for a malfunctioning PCM.
