Function Test: Civic

  1. Ensure fuse No. 51 (20-amp) in underhood fuse/relay box and fuse No. 24 (7.5-amp) in underdash fuse/relay box are not blown. Replace fuse(s) as necessary. Carefully pry sun roof switch out of instrument panel. Unplug connector from switch. Go to next step.
  2. Connect jumper wire between sun roof switch harness connector terminal No. 1 (Yellow wire) and body ground. Turn ignition on. If sun roof panel opens, check switch. See SUN ROOF SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTING. If sun roof panel does not open, check for open in Yellow wire between sun roof switch and sun roof open relay, faulty open or close relay or a poor ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair or replace as necessary.
  3. Connect jumper wire between sun roof switch harness connector terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Red wire) and body ground. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If sun roof panel closes, check switch. See SUN ROOF SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTING. If sun roof panel does not close, check for open in Yellow/Red or Green/Red wire between sun roof switch and sun roof close relay. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Check for faulty open or close relay or faulty tilt/close switch.
  4. Connect jumper wire between sun roof switch harness connector terminal No. 2 (Blue wire) and body ground. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If sun roof panel tilts upward at rear, check switch. See SUN ROOF SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTING. If sun roof panel does not tilt, check for open in Blue wire between sun roof switch and tilt/close switch or a faulty tilt/close switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  5. Connect jumper wire between sun roof switch harness connector terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Red wire) and ground. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Sun roof panel should tilt down. If sun roof panel does not tilt down, open/close relay is faulty.
  6. Check continuity between sun roof switch harness connector terminal No. 4 (Black wire) and ground. If there is continuity, check switch. If there is no continuity, check for open in Black wire between sun roof switch and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Check for a poor ground connector G401 and G402. G401 is located above left kick panel, behind cruise control unit. G402 is located behind right side of instrument panel, right side of blower motor assembly.
