Anti-Lock (Abs) Indicator Light

NOTE: ABS system is okay if ABS indicator light comes on (bulb check) for about 2 seconds after ignition is turned on or engine is started, then goes out.

ABS indicator light will come on when an ABS system problem is detected. Even though ABS system is okay, ABS indicator light can come on if there is a signal disturbance, wheel spin, only drive wheels rotate or battery voltage fluctuates. When an ABS system problem is detected, ABS indicator light will come on. If ABS system goes into system down mode, ABS indicator light will come on and stay on until ignition switch is turned off. If ABS system goes into control inhibition mode, ABS indicator light will come on and automatically go off.

When ignition is turned on after a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) has been stored in ABS control unit, ABS indicator light will illuminate. If engine is started, ABS indicator light will go out. If fault in wheel sensor system is detected, ABS indicator light will come on. If wheel speed signal returns to normal, ABS control unit will turn ABS indicator light off.

ABS indicator light receives battery voltage through fuse No. 25 (7.5-amp), located in underdash fuse/relay box, and through ABS control unit. When battery voltage from fuse No. 25 only is present, ABS indicator light will illuminate. When battery voltage from fuse No. 25 and ABS control unit are present, ABS indicator light will go out.
