Security System Will Not Disarm Using Valet Switch
NOTE:
This procedure also applies if security system will not operate in valet mode.
- On DX-V, EX, HX, LX or Si, check fuse No. 3 (3-amp) located in underdash fuse/relay block. On CX and DX, check fuse (3-amp) in security in-line fuse holder. If fuse is okay, go to step 3 . If fuse is faulty, replace fuse and go to next step.
- Recheck fuse No. 3 or security in-line fuse holder fuse. If fuse fails again, locate and repair short in appropriate wire between fuse and security control unit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If fuse does not fail again, retest system operation.
- Disconnect 22-pin security control unit connector. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Turn ignition on. Check voltage between ground and security control unit connector terminal No. 11. See Figure . If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Black/Yellow wire between security control unit and fuse in security in-line fuse holder (CX and DX models) or open in Yellow wire between security control unit and fuse No. 3 in underdash fuse/relay box.
- Turn ignition off. Connect 22-pin security control unit connector. Turn ignition on. Check voltage between ground and security control unit terminal No. 5 (Blue wire) by backprobing. See Figure . About 5 volts should exist. If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, replace security control unit.
- While pressing valet switch, check voltage between ground and security control unit connector terminal No. 5 (Blue wire) by backprobing. See Figure . Voltage should drop from about 5 volts to 0 volts when valet switch is pressed. If voltage changes as specified, replace security control unit. If voltage does not change as specified, check valet switch operation. If valet switch is faulty, replace valet switch. If valet switch is okay, repair open in Blue wire between valet switch and security control unit or open in Black wire between valet switch and ground. Ground point is located behind driver's side kick panel.
