WARNING:
Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. DO NOT apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.
CX and DX models passively arm and do not use a remote transmitter. After ignition is turned off and ignition key is removed from ignition switch, security (anti-theft) alarm system will automatically arm itself 20 seconds after trunk lid or last door is closed.
The alarm system on HX, LX, EX, DX-V and Si models can be armed or disarmed using the remote transmitter.
If any of the following conditions occur, engine starter circuit will be interrupted, horn will sound, and parking lights will flash repeatedly for about 30 seconds, or until system is disarmed:
- Door is opened while system is armed.
- Trunk/hatch is opened while system is armed.
- Vehicle battery is disconnected when system is armed or in alarm mode, then reconnected.
