Anti-Theft & Keyless Entry Systems: Description
The security system uses a 3-position (AUTO, AUTO LOCK and MANUAL) switch to control arming of anti-theft system. In AUTO or AUTO LOCK mode, the security alarm system is armed automatically 20 seconds after key is removed from ignition switch and last door, tailgate, hatch glass or hood (if equipped with optional hood switch) is closed. In AUTO LOCK mode, doors will also lock.
The 20-second delay allows for exit from vehicle after arming system or entry to vehicle prior to disarming system. If a door is opened during the 20-second exit delay time, timer will automatically reset. Remote transmitter can still be used to arm system with switch in AUTO or AUTO LOCK position.
In MANUAL mode, the system can only be armed using the remote transmitter after key is removed from ignition switch and all doors, tailgate, hatch glass or hood (if equipped with optional hood switch) are closed. System is armed by pressing LOCK button on remote transmitter. All doors will lock and horn will sound once (if in beep mode).
