DTC 11, DTC 13, DTC 15 & DTC 17: Wheel Sensor Circuit Open Or Shorted
NOTE:
If DTCs are not erased manually, ABS indicator light will not turn off until vehicle is drive over 6 MPR.
- Ensure that with ignition switch in ON position, ABS indicator light does not turn off. Disconnect ABS control unit 22-pin connector. See Figure
and Figure
. Start engine. Using DVOM connected to ground, measure voltage at appropriate terminal of ABS control unit 22-pin connector. See TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION FOR DTCS 11
, 13, 15 & 17.TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION FOR DTCS 11, 13, 15 & 17
Application Terminal (Wire Color) DTC 11 (Right Front Wheel) No. 9 (Green/Black) DTC 13 (Left Front Wheel) No. 7 (Green/Blue) DTC 15 (Right Rear Wheel) No. 19 (Green/Yellow) DTC 17 (Left Rear Wheel) No. 17 (Light Blue) - If voltage is less than 2 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 2 volts or more, check for short to voltage in wire harness between ABS control unit 22-pin and appropriate wheel sensor.
- Using DVOM, check for continuity to ground at appropriate terminal of ABS control unit 22-pin connector. See Figure and Figure . See TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION FOR DTCS 11, 13, 15 & 17 .
- If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, check wire harness between ABS control unit 22-pin connector and appropriate wheel sensor for short to ground. If wire harness is okay, check wheel sensor for a short to ground. Repair or replace as necessary.
- Check for open in affected wheel sensor circuit by measuring resistance between appropriate terminals at ABS control unit 22-pin connector as follows:
- For DTC 11 (right front wheel), check between terminals No. 8 (Green wire) and No. 9 (Green/Black wire).
- For DTC 13 (left front wheel), check between terminals No. 6 (Brown wire) and No. 7 (Green/Blue wire).
- For DTC 15 (right rear wheel), check between terminals No. 19 (Green/Yellow wire) and No. 20 (Blue/Yellow wire).
- For DTC 17 (left rear wheel), check between terminals No. 17 (Light Blue wire) and No. 18 (Gray wire).
- At 68°F (20°C), resistance should be 400-2050 ohms for any wheel sensor circuit. If resistance is not as specified, go to next step. If resistance is as specified, check for poor terminal contact at ABS control unit. If contact is okay, replace ABS control unit and recheck.
- Repair open or short to wire in wire harness between ABS control unit and appropriate wheel sensor. If wires are okay, replace appropriate wheel sensor.
