Anti-Lock Brake System: Description

The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) is designed to prevent wheel lock-up during hard braking, allowing driver to maintain vehicle control. System consists of control unit, accumulator, ABS motor and pump, 4 speed sensors, modulator, warning light, master cylinder, power booster assembly and connecting wiring. See Fig 1 .

There are 2 test connectors that service the ABS system. The manufacturers ALB Checker (07HAJ-SG0D10B) or ABS Tester, used to test system operation, uses the 6-pin ABS Connector located under the glove box. DTC's may be flashed by jumping the 2-pin Service Check Connector or installing SCS service connector (07PAZ-0010100). The 2-pin SCS connector is located behind the glove box on the right side.

NOTE: For more information on brake system, see BRAKE SYSTEM . article.
