EGR Valve

  1. Ensure all connectors between EGR valve lift sensor and ECU are securely connected. Warm engine to full operating temperature.
  2. Disconnect vacuum hose from EGR valve. Connect a vacuum pump to EGR valve, and apply vacuum. EGR valve should hold vacuum and engine should die once vacuum is applied. If results are not as specified, replace EGR valve.
NOTE: Manufacturer does not supply separate test procedures for Civic and Prelude EGR valve lift sensor. See appropriate CODE 12 chart in G - TESTS W/ CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.
