Code 11: Rear Fail-Safe Relay Circuit

  1. Remove rear fail-safe relay from fuse/relay block in engine compartment and test. See RELAY TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. Replace relay if defective. If relay is okay, use a DVOM to check continuity between Black  wire and ground. If continuity does not exist, repair open circuit between fail-safe relay and ground. Also check for poor ground connection. If continuity exists, turn ignition on. Check voltage between Yellow  /Black  wire and ground.
  2. If battery voltage is NOT present, repair open circuit in Yellow  /Black  wire between fuse No. 17 and relay. If battery voltage is present, turn ignition off. Disconnect MD13Pink 3-pin connector from rear solenoid. Check continuity in Blue  /Black  wire between fail-safe relay and solenoid. If continuity does not exist, repair open circuit in Blue  /Black  wire between fail-safe relay and solenoid.
  3. If continuity exists, disconnect 21-pin connector from control unit. Check for continuity in Yellow  /Green  wire between fail-safe relay and control unit. If continuity does not exist, repair open circuit in Yellow  /Green  wire between fail-safe relay and control unit. If continuity exists, check for continuity in Red  /White and Yellow  /White wires between control unit connector and rear solenoid. If continuity does not exist, repair open circuit between control unit connector and rear solenoid. If all circuits have continuity, replace control unit.
