Retrieving Codes
An LED is located on ECU for self-diagnostic codes. LED is used to read codes set due to component failure. When the CHECK ENGINE warning light has been reported on, pull down the passenger's side carpet from under the dashboard, turn the ignition on, and observe the LED on the top of the ECU. The LED indicates a system failure code by blinking frequency. The ECU LED can indicate any number of separate or simultaneous component problems by blinking codes, one after another. See Fig 1 . See TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION CHART and proceed to appropriate code for testing.
All voltage tests should be performed with a Digital Volt Ohmmeter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance, unless specifically stated different in testing procedures.
