Valve Clearance
- Cylinder head temperature must be less than 100°F (38°C). Remove valve cover, timing belt covers, and distributor cap. Adjustment of exhaust and intake valves are done at the same time.
- Rotate crankshaft to bring No. 1 piston to TDC on compression stroke. "UP" marks on camshaft pulleys should be at top and TDC grooves on camshaft pulleys should align with cylinder head surface. Distributor rotor pointing to No. 1 spark plug wire on cap. Adjust valves on cylinder No. 1.
- Rotate crankshaft counterclockwise 180 degrees to bring No. 3 piston to TDC on compression stroke. "UP" marks on camshaft pulleys should be at exhaust side and distributor rotor should point to No. 3 spark plug wire on cap. Adjust valves on cylinder No. 3.
- Rotate crankshaft counterclockwise 180 degrees to bring No. 4 piston to TDC on compression stroke. "UP" marks on camshaft pulleys should be at the bottom and distributor rotor should point to No. 4 spark plug wire on cap. Adjust valves on cylinder No. 4.
- Rotate crankshaft counterclockwise 180 degrees to bring No. 2 piston to TDC on compression stroke. "UP" marks on camshaft pulleys should be at intake side and distributor rotor should point to No. 2 spark plug wire on cap. Adjust valves on cylinder No. 2.VALVE CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENT
