Throttle Controller

  1. Connect a tachometer to engine. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Check that idle speed is not excessively high. If idle speed is within normal operating temperature idle specifications, go to step 3). If idle speed is excessively high, disconnect No. 6 vacuum hose from throttle controller, check for vacuum at hose, then go to next step.
  2. If vacuum is present, replace throttle controller and retest. If not, check No. 6 vacuum line for leaks or blockage. Repair, clean or replace as necessary and retest. See Fig 1 .
  3. With engine idling, disconnect No. 6 vacuum hose from throttle controller. See Fig 1 . Engine speed should rise to 1400-2000 RPM. If engine RPM does not rise to within specification, adjust by turning idle adjusting screw. If engine idle does not change, check throttle controller linkage for free movement. If there is no problem, replace throttle controller and retest.
