Self Diagnostic System

The ECU has a self-diagnostic capability to help diagnose problems in sensor or in ECU itself. This system uses a dash mounted Check Engine warning light and one ECU mounted self-diagnostic LED. As a bulb check, warning light on dash will glow for 2 seconds when ignition is turned on. Warning light will also illuminate if ECU has detected a system malfunction. The ECU is mounted under access panel under carpet, below passenger side of dash.

ECU mounted LED is used to indicate trouble codes stored in ECU memory. Control unit can indicate any number of simultaneous component problems by blinking separate codes, one after another.
