Code 17: Vehicle Speed Sensor

  1. Block drive wheels and set parking brake. Raise front of vehicle and support with safety stands. With ignition off, connect system checker harness between ECU and ECU connector. Turn ignition on.
  2. Slowly rotate left front wheel while measuring voltage between terminals B16 (pos.) and A18 (neg.). If voltmeter pulses between zero and 5 volts, substitute a known good ECU. If condition is rectified, replace original ECU.
  3. If voltmeter does not pulse between zero and 5 volts, repair open or short in Yellow/Red wire between ECU terminal B16 and speed sensor or replace faulty speed sensor.
