Mixture Cut-Off Solenoid

  1. Turn ignition on and off while listening to cut-off solenoids at carburetors. Solenoids should click. If both solenoids click, go to step 4). If either solenoid does not click, turn ignition off. Connect system checker harness between ECU and ECU connectors. Turn ignition on.
  2. Measure voltage between terminals B4 (pos.) and B16 (neg.). If battery voltage is not present, go to step 3). If battery voltage is present, repair open or short in Black/Yellow wire between solenoid valve and ECU terminal B4. If wire is okay, replace solenoid valve which did not click. Also check Black wire from left solenoid valve to ground.
  3. If battery voltage was not present at terminals B4 (pos.) and B16 (neg.), check warning light on dash and self-diagnosis LED on ECU. If okay, go to ECU INPUT SIGNALS  .
  4. Start engine and warm to operating temperature (cooling fan comes on). Block rear wheels and raise front of vehicle. Support with safety stands. Place transmission in 2nd (man. trans.) or "2" (auto. trans.). Accelerate and suddenly release throttle.
  5. Check for clicking sound at each solenoid. If solenoids click, they are functioning properly. If solenoids do not click, turn ignition off. Connect system checker harness between ECU and ECU connectors. Start engine. Measure voltage between terminals B4 (pos.) and B16 (neg.) while decelerating from greater than 12.5 MPH and 4000 RPM.
  6. If voltage goes away briefly, replace solenoid valve which does not click. If voltage does not go away briefly, check warning light on dash and ECU LED for codes. If okay, go to ECU INPUT SIGNALS  .
