Ignition System - TOYO DENSO Electronic: Description

NOTE: Some Accord and Prelude carbureted models use Hitachi distributors. See IGNITION SYSTEM - HITACHI ELECTRONIC article in this section.

Honda (Toyo Denso) electronic distributors consist of a distributor housing, rotor, and distributor cap. The reluctor, stator, magnet, pick-up coil and breaker plate assemblies are all located inside the distributor housing.

The ignitor is internally mounted on Civic models. Ignitor is mounted on the side of the distributor on Accord and carbureted Prelude models. On fuel injected Prelude models, the ignitor is mounted on the right side shock tower.

Centrifugal and vacuum advance mechanisms are used on all Accord and carbureted Prelude models.
