Throttle Cable

  1. Warm engine to normal operating temperature (cooling fan comes on). Ensure that throttle cable operates smoothly with no binding or sticking.
  2. On Civic models, connect a hand-held vacuum pump to dashpot diaphragm. See Fig 1 . Apply vacuum.
  3. On all models, check cable deflection (free play) at throttle linkage. Deflection should be .39-.47" (10-12 mm). If deflection is not within specification, loosen locknut and turn adjusting nut until deflection is within specification.
CAUTION: After replacing and/or adjusting cable, ensure that throttle valve opens and closes fully when accelerator pedal is pushed to floor and released.
