Trouble Shooting
If no faults were found in anti-afterburn solenoid or solenoid circuit and system is not functioning properly, fault may be in ECU control system. Perform the following tests to determine cause of failure. If all tests result in no faults found, substitute a known good ECU and retest. If condition is rectified, replace original ECU.
Check power source and ground terminals at ECU.
- Terminal No. 32 - Continuity to ground.
- Terminals No. 22 and 23 - Voltage from No. 1 fuse.
Inspect A/T shift position signal.
- Terminal No. 14 - Voltage except in Neutral or Park.
- Terminal No. 15 - Voltage except in Neutral or Park.
Inspect speed pulser signal (man. trans.).
- Terminal No. 5 - Pulsing 0-5 volts with L/F wheel turned by hand and ignition on. If not, terminal No. 32 to terminal No. 23 with ohmmeter - Continuity/no continuity fluctuation with L/F wheel turned by hand and ignition on.
Inspect coolant sensor signal.
- Terminal No. 7 - 1 volt at operating temperature.
