Carburetor - KEIHIN 1-Bbl: Description

Vehicles use a pair of 1-barrel, side draft carburetors. Carburetor components include electrically heated automatic choke, fast idle unloader, choke opener, fuel cut-off solenoid, power valve and A/C idle boost solenoid.

Automatic choke system is electrically heated and adjusts choke valves with a bi-metallic coil spring and vacuum controlled choke opener. Choke opener operates in two steps according to coolant temperature and works independently of fast idle setting. Fast idle unloader is controlled by thermowax valve, which senses coolant temperature, decreasing idle speed by rotating fast idle cam.

Coolant is fed through carburetor casting bracket improving cold driveability. Thermovalve cuts coolant flow when temperature reaches 122°F (50°C) or higher. The power valve provides supplementary fuel into the primary main fuel passage when the car is in the power mode. Idle boost control diaphragm prevents the idle speed from dropping when the A/C compressor switch is turned on.
