Throttle Cable

  1. Check throttle cable for smooth operation. Ensure cable operates with no binding or sticking. Repair or replace throttle cable as necessary. Check for cable free play (deflection) at linkage. Standard cable deflection (side-to-side) is 3/16-3/8" (4-10 mm).
  2. If necessary, adjust deflection by loosening lock nut and turning adjusting nut. After adjustment, securely tighten lock nut. Ensure throttle valve opens fully when accelerator pedal is depressed and returns to idle position when pedal is released.
